Burnley Show and Hot Air Balloon Extravaganza 2009

A weekend of fun and excitement awaits when the annual hot air balloon festival gets underway at Towneley Park. A real treat for all the family with huge hot air balloons floating in the sky over the town and the surrounding hills.

You can see how the balloons are inflated and witness a mass launch as these silent giants take to the sky, there are all shapes and sizes from the traditional balloon to the more unusual shaped balloons, and there is the chance to win tethered balloon flights.

Arena events include Mega Mini's Stunt Team, Vander Brothers and the Wheel of Death, Fred's Flying Circus and Bill Heslop and his amazing sheep dogs. There is sldo a mini-market / trade village and the Grand Finale of Burnley's Got Talent.

A spectacular fireworks display and 'Nightglow' where the balloons light up to music is undoubtably the highlight of the weekend and elicits more ooh's and aah's than a near miss at Burnley Football Club. The wonderful choreography produces a rhythmic glow from the burners that light the balloons in time to the melodies playing out from the sound system.
There is also a mini circus for children.
Arena events take place every 30 minutes.
