The Bacup Natural History society was formed in 1878 by a group of gentlemen who were interested in the fauna, floral and fossils of the area.
The building was formerly the ‘Hare and Hounds’ public house which had also been a lodging house.
Museum and library of natural, local and industrial history. Library includes newspapers, photographs from mid-19thC. Lectures are every 1st and 3rd Saturday during Winter commencing at 7pm and are free of charge, donations would be gratefully received.
* Open Thursday evenings 19:30-21:30 or by appointment only.
Group tours available by appointment if out of opening hours.
Open Easter Saturday 10:00-15:00.
